Good morning everybody and welcome to July! It was great to have so many children back in the classroom last week from both year 1 and year 2. You are all now working through the Oak academy website if/when you are not in school, I hope you are enjoying following the oak academy schedule. Keep up the good work and enjoy the rest of your week!
It was lovely to have year 1s back in the classroom again this week and next week I look forward to welcoming back year 2s. Year 2s joining me next week will begin accessing Oak Academy on a Thursday and Friday, they should then continue that weeks schedule at home the following week. Until next Thursday year 2s should continue finishing any work from the previous home learning packs. I look forward to seeing you in school next week!

Good morning to you all. Your next home-learning pack is ready to be collected from school for you to work through this week. Don’t forget to bring back reading books to be changed, hope you are making time to read regularly and finding some adventure through books! Now that the sun looks to be making an appearance again, perhaps you can make yourself a reading corner outside in the fresh air. Parents, please make sure you sign up online for a free Oxford Owl account as there are lots of free e-books to access through this site. I will be reading a story for you again tomorrow so join me some time during the week for story-time.
Below I have added some power-points so you can get started with the math home learning until you pick up your pack. Happy learning Jupiter class!
UPDATE 11.5.20 – Hello Jupiter Class!
A big hello to everyone today, hope you are all well and keeping busy. A new home learning pack is ready for you to start working through, please pop into school when you can and collect these from the school office. Remember to bring in any reading books which need changing when you pick up the learning packs. Make sure you log in to your Times Table Rockstars and Nessy accounts regularly during the week.
During this weeks home learning you will be remembering our previous learning about Space. I wonder if you can remember all of the planets in the solar system? What are their names? Are there any interesting facts which spring into your mind about any of those planets? If you need a quick reminder or want to check if you named them all, watch the video below! Once you have watched the video can you draw your own picture of the solar system with the planets labelled and in the right order?
TASK: Now have a look at the following link and work through the activity which is all about day and night. There is a video to watch and a quiz to take.
You might want to visit these pages if you are interested in researching a bit more about each planet. Make sure you write some notes recording what you find out!

Remember to bring in any reading books which need changing. Hope you are still tuning in to PE with Joe Wicks to actively start your day. I thought we would start this weeks learning with some music, so before you start on your home learning pack, watch the following video. In preparation be listening to what instruments you can hear. What kind of singer is this? How does the music and the singing make you feel? Your first piece of home learning in your pack will be answering these questions and more.

UPDATE: 27.4.20 – Good Morning Jupiter Class.
A new pack with 5 days worth of home-learning is now ready for you to begin working through. Parents should contact the office to arrange collection of a pack at your convenience.
In preparation I would like you all to click on the link below and watch the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. It is split into short episodes which collectively should take at least an hour to watch. There are so many versions of this classic story that I thought it would be nice to share the same version with everybody!
Also, while you are waiting for your learning packs to arrive, have a go on this game to practice counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
You can set the steps you want to count in on the top left hand side of the whack-a-mole screen.
You might also like to spend some money on a customized car.
Please make sure that you return reading books and collect new ones when you collect your pack.

Hope you are all keeping well and keeping busy at home. I have been keeping a close eye on the beans we had started growing in the classroom. Last week I placed all of your individual beans outside in the warm sunshine so that they could adjust to growing outside. I am hoping to plant them in the school vegetable patch so that they can continue to thrive.
Here is a file which has some information, photographs and tasks for you to do based on the beans you planted.
TT Rockstars: Battle of the Bands: Boys vs Girls
Over the next 3 days, finishing at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 1st April (the final day of term), every point you score on TT Rockstars will contribute to a whole school Battle of the Bands competition.
